The growing MMS market challenges network operators and service providers to deliver a great number of multimedia messages in a quick and reliable way. Telecommunications specialist, MATERNA Information & Communications, has developed a solution to multiply the transfer rate of application-to-person MMS messages considerably.
In particular, providers of value added service platforms need quick and reliable solutions for the delivery of their MMS information services. Most conventional MMS centers, frequently delaying the message delivery, are no longer capable of meeting the increased requirements.
MATERNAs MMS Accelerator, focusing application-to-person communication, enables the transfer of information almost in real-time. It allows for transfer rates of up to 400 MMS messages per second (for 80kB MMS). The system is scalable up to 1,200 MMS per second. This is up to thirty times faster than the application-to-person MMS transfer by means of a usual MMSC. The Accelerator is switched between VAS Platform and WAP Gateway or SMSC, respectively. The functional independence of person-to-person and application-to-person communication guarantees a seamless download process, also at peak times.
The Accelerator is based on standard technology. Its modular architecture includes the following components:
· Bulk service and content handling
· XML gateway (MM7 interface for VAS applications to cope with bulk requests)
· High-speed delivery and download service.
Moreover, the MMS Bypass Proxy Server is optionally available. This http proxy server is integrated in MATERNAs WAP Gateway solution. It filters unwanted information, such as retrieve acknowledges or notification responses and forwards them automatically to the MMS Accelerator, thus, easing the workload of the established MMS centre, which only takes on person-to-person communication jobs. MMSC and MMS Accelerator can be scaled, independent on each other.
The MMS Accelerator is based on the successful Service Delivery Platform MACS, an efficient infrastructure for mobile services, developed by MATERNA. Therefore, it is the only MMSC bypass solution, which is directly coupled with content delivery but, for that, meets the highest requirements of a carrier grade system. The MMS Accelerator can be used parallel to any existing MMSC solution.
