MATERNA´s editorial department provides over 100 mobile services for any handset

At Con4 trade fair, the Dortmund based telecommunications specialist MATERNA Information & Communications will present the portfolio of its in-house editorial department, providing content, category and rights management from one single source. The services are processed by MATERNA´s service delivery platform, MACS, an efficient infrastructure for mobile services, enabling companies to provide their customers in all countries with location related contents.
A lot of renowned companies, such as Siemens and AOL, have already been working with MACS. This system provides all necessary technologies for the supply and the sending of any kind of mobile data, e. g., SMS and MMS-related services, J2ME, ring tones, logos or other data formats, such as MP3 or videos. Consequently, all contents can be retrieved via SMS, MMS, WAP or WEB. The platform, operated in MATERNA´s powerful computer centre, can be completely integrated into a company web site. The range of services also includes an XHTML based WAP portal.
Novelty - full track music download
As a novelty, MATERNA offers a complementary music download platform. In contrast to products from other providers, the MATERNA platform supports the full track music download onto both personal computers and mobile phones. Another highlight, various mobile value added services, such as the MMS Star News, round off the range of services on offer. The new platform offers a comprehensive shop system for the sales of audio files of all common formats, i. e. WMA, AAC/AAC+ and MP3. Furthermore, the existing DRM (Digital Right Management) functionality will be extended by Microsoft DRM and OMA DRM 2.0 The range of services includes a reporting system, meeting the special requirements of the music industry. The downloads can be paid via the monthly mobile invoice, credit card, T-Pay and other billing concepts.
Information services by MATERNA - sport, news and fun
The portfolio of MATERNA´s editorial department currently includes 32 MMS and WAP services as well as over hundred SMS information services. The most important events from sport, politics, economics and boulevard are directly sent to the mobile user´s handset. In addition to that, the MATERNA editorial staff create a daily topical entertainment program consisting of horoscopes, fun and comedy contents, love and modern life issues. On 28 September, 10 am, at Con4, Josef Humbert, head of the editorial department for telecommunications at MATERNA, is holding a presentation about MATERNA´s mobile media concept “All in One”, on the basis of a content management case study.
Con4, Europe´s first trade fair for developers, manufacturers, providers and distributors of digital media, contents and appropriate devices, is taking place from 27 to 29 Sept 2005, in Cologne.
