MATERNA operates fixed net SMS for network operator Czech Telecom

MATERNA Information & Communications is extending its excellent position in the area of fixed net SMS. Immediately, Czech Telecom, the leading wireless provider in Czechoslovakia, starts using the fixed line SMS centre from MATERNA, enabling its approximately 3.6 million customers the exchange of SMS through the fixed line.
MATERNA belongs to the leading national and international providers of fixed net SMS. Besides operating the Fixed Net SMS Centre, the Dortmund based company mainly concentrates on the extension of their value added service portfolio. This includes, among other things, information services and the ring tone download. Soon, MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service) for the fixed line will be on offer, too.
From May on, Czech Telecom customers will be able to send short messages by their fixed net device to another fixed net phone or a mobile handset. If the addressee’s devices does not support SMS the message will be read out to her/him or saved in the integrated mailbox. Alternatively, it can be sent to a fax machine. The messages can be sent and received country-wide or worldwide.
Because of the nice price, Czech Telecom is expecting a high demand from young customers, in particular. At the price of one korun, SMS despatch through the fixed net is significantly cheaper than the despatch by means of prepaid handset.
